Juvéderm Voluma XC uses Vycross technology at 20 mg/ml hyaluronic acid with 0.3% lidocaine, formulated as a dense, highly cohesive gel for deep structural support. It is FDA- and CE-indicated for deep injection to correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks, to augment the chin profile, and to improve moderate to severe temple hollowing, in adults over 21. Its high cohesivity allows it to hold shape under muscle movement, making it a primary choice for midface volumising. Clinically reported duration is up to around 18 months with optimal treatment. Juvederm Voluma is the firmest, most structurally supportive filler in Allergan's VYCROSS collection, engineered at a high hyaluronic acid concentration (20mg/ml) specifically for deep injection into the cheeks, chin and temples. Its cross-linked gel is designed to correct age-related volume loss and restore facial contour with strong lifting capacity, and it holds FDA approval for cheek, chin and temple augmentation in adults.

As with the rest of the VYCROSS range, Voluma is pre-mixed with lidocaine for injection comfort and can be reversed with hyaluronidase if adjustment is required. Clinical studies have shown results lasting up to two years in the cheek area.

Juvederm Voluma is injected into the deep subcutaneous or supraperiosteal plane using a 27G½" needle or 25G1" needle/cannula, applying even pressure while slowly moving the needle. Injection may be antegrade or retrograde.

A review appointment is typically scheduled after 2-4 weeks to assess final results; touch-up implantation may be needed.

  • Severe allergies (history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies)
  • Known hypersensitivity to gram-positive bacterial proteins or lidocaine
  • Do not inject into blood vessels — may cause embolisation, vessel occlusion, ischaemia or infarction
  • History of excessive/hypertrophic scarring or pigmentation disorders (not studied)
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or patients under 21
