Sculptra (Galderma) is an injectable collagen stimulator (biostimulator) supplied as a sterile dry powder — 150mg poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microparticles, 90mg sodium carboxymethylcellulose and 127.5mg non-pyrogenic mannitol per vial — reconstituted with sterile water (optionally with lidocaine) before injection into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra works gradually: the PLLA microparticles stimulate the body's own collagen production over time, correcting shallow-to-deep nasolabial fold deficiencies and other facial wrinkles, and is FDA-approved for cheek wrinkles, with results reported to last up to 2 years.
